Become a

Monthly meetings are held in Gilwern Community Centre at 2.0 pm on Wednesdays, usually mid month, unless otherwise stated, though for September and October they will be on Zoom. 

Non members may attend no more than two consecutive meetings in the hall after which they will be expected to become members.  This is not available in the theatre during Zoom talks where numbers are limited.

There will be a small charge for non-members when the time comes that we are not on Zoom.

at 2pm Climate change and Ecological Crisis?  What's all the fuss about?   David Ramsden MBE
David Ramsden MBE - David has been actively involved in nature conservation since 1984 and in 2007 received an MBE for his services to wildlife.
‘Climate and Ecological Crisis? What’s all the fuss about?’ is an easy-to-follow look at the whole subject & possible solutions. It’s aimed primarily at people who want to know more about climate change or the ecological crisis, people who feel that either crisis is unreal or exaggerated, or people who have not previously engaged with the subject. Every time I give this talk somebody says “everyone should hear this”.

20 October at 2pm The Great American Songbook. Roger Browne
Roger has directed or appeared in over 120 musicals or dramas since returning to his first profession in the late 1960's after he first appeared on the stage in 1951.
'The Great American Songbook. In this talk, Roger traces the history and music of this genre and, as with all his talks, he illustrates it with live examples on the piano, and the hilarious stories about the people, places and events that fuelled the development of this unique milestone in Western popular music.

17 November at 2pm  Christmas Unwrapped. Malcolm Meadows
Malcolm is a local well known speaker who is making a welcome return to Gilwern.
'Christmas Unwrapped' looks at the traditions and origins of the music of the festive period.'

19 January 2022 at 2pm Plastic: destroyer of the planet?  Averil MacDonald
