Poetry Competition 2025

Open to ALL members of Gilwern u3a but not members of the Creative Writing Group

SUBJECT OF THE POEM should be: “Spring”

At some time in all our lives, poetry has played a part.  Whether it was well-known William Wordsworth or William Shakespeare, or something from Pam Ayres or Benjamin Zephaniah, all of us can remember a few lines.

So why not write your own poem with “Spring” as the subject?

It could be the season of daffodils and new growth, or water bubbling up from deep in the ground, or even a rusty metal coil bursting out of an old sofa - the choice is yours.

HOW TO ENTER:

  1. It must be your own original and unpublished work.
  2. It must be no more than 16 lines typed.
  3. DO NOT INCLUDE YOUR NAME ON THE POEM
