Activities
Gilwern U3A Garden Group visit gardens both in the local area and as far away as south Herefordshire. We have been to some fascinating gardens over the years; Sir Roy Strong's garden, Laskett's, near Ross on Wye is one that stands out as a garden that was lovingly restored. Many of the owners are members of the National Garden Scheme. The trip usually includes tea and cakes. We use our own cars, sharing when possible. Trips are arranged for the fourth Wednesday of the month when possible but this may vary.

We all had a good day after an interesting drive up through the Golden Valley and then lunch at their Cafe on arrival.
Visits in 2023 by Garden Group
Visit to Hergest Croft on 11th October 2023
14 members visited this beautiful garden and arboretum on a rather inclement day. We were revived by refreshments in the delightful cafe.
Treberfydd Nursery
Visit to Treberfydd Nursery, Llangasty on Thursday 14th September 2023. We were amazed at the range and colour of the plants so late in the season. The owner and staff were very helpful and gave us a brief overview before letting us browse freely. Plenty of plants to buy after which most of us took advantage of tea and cakes.
The Neaudd
We visited The Neaudd at Llanbedr, Crickhowell on 24th May 2023. Much of the garden was on a steep slope. We enjoyed a tour led by the Gardener who was very knowledgeable about the beautiful trees, walled garden and unusual plants.
